Finny’s Cottage is classified by the Heritage Council of Tasmania as being "…of historic heritage significance because of its ability to demonstrate the principal characteristics of single story timber vernacular Old Colonial Georgian domestic building”. They also say “This building is of historic heritage significance because its townscape associations are regarded as important to the community’s sense of place ”. The cottage has been carefully maintained and extended and is able to provide visitors with historic self-contained accommodation with a “21st Century” standard of comfort during their stay in Hobart, giving them the benefit of absolute privacy and security.
