Children's Development Bank or Bal Vikas Bank

The Children's Development Bank (CDB) gives children the change to safe their money in a safe way. CDB is a school for learning management, participatory, democracy, leadership, and accountability. The CDB will also gradually help the children/adolescents to start their own small enterprises. Child Welfare Scheme Nepal was able to start this bank with a technical support from Butterflies, India and financial support from Consortium for Street Children, UK. The bank opened on the 4th of August. Till now, 60 children already opened their saving account. Over fourteen thousand Rupees is now in the saving accounts of these children! Some children went back to school; others saved money to go home after many years to celebrate the big Nepali festival (Dashain) with their family. The children have dreams for their future (open a business, study to become a “real bank manager”.
